L.I. School Computer Technician Cops to Child Porn Charge

A Queens Village man, who worked as a computer technician for a Long Island school district, last week pleaded guilty to promoting a sexual performance by a child.

According to Queens District Attorney Richard Brown, Ryan Ramdass, 28, “admitted that he shared very disturbing pictures and videos of children being sexually abused by way of his computer on the Internet.”

A forensic search of Ramdass’ external hard drive revealed seven images and 28 videos of children being sexually abused, according to the charges. Forensic searches determined that thousands of videos and images had been downloaded and saved on his laptop and various external hard drives. Furthermore, Ramdass, who was working in the Levittown school district at the time of his arrest, had been actively sharing the files on peer-to-peer networks, Brown’s office indicated.

“It is important to remember that these images are for all intents and purposes crime scene photos—they depict real children being cruelly victimized both physically and emotionally and the memories of their abuse will be with them for the rest of their lives,” Brown said.

Ramdass is expected to be sentenced to 2 to 6 years in prison on Jan. 8, 2015.
