Queens Borough President Melinda Katz last Thursday honored members of the Armed Forces in a Memorial Day ceremony in Veterans Memorial Garden at Borough Hall. In addition to placing a wreath in recognition of those who lost their lives in service to the country, Katz presented citations to Queens veterans Private First Class Earlie Rhodes (U.S. Army, World War II); Past Department Commander Samuel Mantilla (Army, Vietnam War); and Sgt. Suzanne Bettis (U.S. Marine Corps Combat Mortuary Affairs, Operation New Dawn, Iraq).
