A seemingly distraught man Monday morning leapt in front of a northbound A train at the 159th Avenue/Coleman Square station, according to police and witness accounts.
The unidentified man was pronounced dead at the scene around 8:20 a.m. The Metropolitan Transportation Authority suspended service between Rockaway Boulevard and Far Rockaway in both directions until approximately 10:45 a.m. “for the police investigation and body removal,” an MTA spokeswoman told The Forum.
The incident significantly impacted the morning rush. The MTA used shuttle buses to accommodate customers until service was fully restored, the spokeswoman added.
