A 63-year-old Corona man last Friday was charged with sexually assaulting a 10-year-old girl in the basement of an Ozone Park mosque, according to Queens District Attorney Richard Brown and court records.
Md Uddin, 63, was arraigned on a criminal complaint charging him with first-degree sexual abuse and acting in a manner injurious to a child under the age of 17. According to the city Department of Correction, Uddin is still in custody on Rikers Island after bail was set at $40,000 cash or bond.
According to the charges, Uddin approached the 10-year-old victim in the basement of the Fultoli Jame Masjid Mosque on 101st Avenue, just before 1 p.m. last Thursday, placed his arm around her shoulder and took her to a corner of the basement.
Uddin then allegedly hugged her from behind and grabbed and squeezed her breasts over and under her clothing, while stating, “Does this feel good? Do you like this?” Uddin then allegedly kissed her about the forehead and cheeks, while stating, “Don’t tell anyone about this.”
The case came to light, Brown said, when the victim went home and told a family member, who then contacted authorities.
Messages left at the mosque were not answered.
“These are serious accusations in which an alleged sexual predator stalked his victim in a place of worship and, if true, cannot go unpunished,” Brown added.
