The city Police Department last Friday co-named 222nd Street and 92nd Avenue, in front of the 105th Precinct stationhouse, “Detective 1st Grade Brian Moore Way,” in honor of the 25-year-old cop who was killed in the line of duty in May.
Moore, the son of a retired NYPD officer, was shot in the face in Springfield Gardens after asking a suspect what he was fidgeting with in his waistband. His family decided to take him off life support two days later.
“As children walk by this intersection, they will ask, ‘Who was Brian Moore?’” said Police Commissioner Bill Bratton. “He was a hero for New York City.”
