‘Nicholas Christmas’ Indicted for Violating Order of Protection

A borough grand jury has indicted a Jamaica man named Nicholas Christmas for harassing and violating an order of protection requiring him to stay away from a neighborhood deli employee, according to Queens District Attorney Richard Brown.

The alleged violation occurred just hours after Christmas pleaded guilty to a menacing charge involving the same man, Brown said.

Christmas, a.k.a. Nicholas Lamont, 29, is charged in a two-count indictment with first-degree criminal contempt and second-degree harassment.

According to the indictment and an earlier criminal complaint, Christmas lives down the street from a deli where the victim, Haroon Glaimeed, works. On Dec. 13, Christmas was arrested after arguing with Glaimeed and then threatening him with a razor he wedged against his neck. At that time, Christmas allegedly told the victim, “I told you I would come back for you,” Brown said.

According to the indictment and court records, Christmas pleaded guilty to second-degree menacing on Dec. 21, and is scheduled to be sentenced in February.

After his court appearance, Christmas allegedly returned to the store, threatened Glaimeed, left the deli and returned two more times. Christmas allegedly also tried to push his way into the establishment with the clerk holding the door closed, and at one point, he allegedly threw a heavy object at the man.

“The defendant is accused of shoving a store clerk and harassing him—the same victim whom the defendant pleaded guilty to menacing in court earlier in the day,” Brown said. “The defendant is already scheduled to be sentenced in February for the earlier case. Now he faces additional time behind bars if convicted in this latest incident.”

If convicted, Christmas faces up to four years in prison. His bail has been set at $5,000 cash or bond. As of Tuesday afternoon, he remained in City custody on Rikers Island.
