Queens Borough President Melinda Katz was honored last week by the Emerald Isle Immigration Center for advocacy on behalf of immigrants in the World’s Borough and throughout the Big Apple.

Katz (second from l.) and Deborah King, executive director of 1199SEIU Training & Employment Funds, each received the Robert Briscoe Award during a ceremony last Monday.

According to Katz’s office, the award is presented annually and honors people of Jewish faith who have helped Ireland and Irish immigrants in the United States.

Presenting the awards were Brian O’Dwyer, chairman of the Emerald Isle Immigration Center (far l.), and the Hon. Ben Briscoe, son of the Hon. Robert Briscoe, the late member of the Irish Parliament after whom the award is named.
