A borough Sanitation worker was arrested last week for lying to investigators in order to cover up an on-duty rendezvous with a prostitute, according to police and published reports.

Michael Morelli, 31, who has been with DSNY since September, was issued a Desk Appearance Ticket last Wednesday for filing a false report. His next court date is March 11.

Morelli last Wednesday reportedly was assigned to dig out a Jamaica street corner when, at some point during his shift, he allegedly met with the prostitute in an abandoned building. Following the tryst, Morelli was attacked by two men outside of the edifice. However, the garbage man allegedly told detectives that he had been robbed and pistol whipped near the corner he was assigned to clear.

According to a New York Daily News report, Morelli’s tale “fell apart when someone found his phone and turned it in, cops said.”

Morelli allegedly finally fessed up to doing the dirty deed while on-duty, and subsequently getting into a physical altercation with two men, which resulted in him losing his phone.

Morelli will face disciplinary action from the department when he returns to active duty.
