State Sen. Joe Addabbo, Jr. (D-Howard Beach) last Wednesday acted as Principal for a Day at St. Mary Gate of Heaven Catholic Academy in Ozone Park as part of Catholic Schools Week.
“I was thrilled to have the opportunity to act as principal for a day at one of the best schools in my district, St. Mary Gate of Heaven,” said Addabbo, a member of the Senate Education Committee. “Not only was it rewarding to experience the life of a principal for a day, but I have a renewed appreciation for the work our teachers and principals do for our children each and every day. Being an educator is one of the most honorable and important jobs out there, and I am grateful to have spent even a few hours experiencing the good work those at Gate of Heaven do. I want to thank Principal Ralph Corso, Fr. Gerald Fitzsimmons and the entire faculty and staff at Gate of Heaven for inviting me to participate in this wonderful opportunity.”
