Queens District Attorney Richard Brown and hero NYPD Det. Steven McDonald last Thursday helped the Far Rockaway community celebrate its annual “Say No to Violence Week” by attending an assembly held at the former Far Rockaway High School for 200 students from Frederick Douglass Academy VI High School; Queens High School for Information, Research and Technology; and Academy of Medical Technology: A College Board School.

Det. McDonald, who was paralyzed by gunshot wounds suffered while on duty 30 years ago, shared with the students his inspiring message of nonviolence and forgiveness.
