Eight new NYPD Counterterrorism canines and their partner officers last week graduated training in a ceremony held at the new Police Academy in College Point.
The highly trained officers and their four-legged partners will protect the city by helping to detect explosive devices using the pooches’ sense of smell. The vapor wake dogs, as they are called, will patrol the five boroughs at high-profile locations, as well as other sensitive areas, according to the department.
Congratulations to all the brave dogs and their partners, especially the above chocolate lab, who bears a striking resemblance to The Forum’s own watchful eye, Cocoa.
