A 30-year-old Queens man was sentenced to 22 years in prison for the 2013 shooting death of another man outside a strip club in Woodside.
Dwayne Johnson, of 107th Avenue in Queens Village, pleaded guilty a year ago to first-degree manslaughter before Queens Supreme Court Justice Gregory L. Lasak, who sentenced him last week to 22 years and then 5 of post release supervision.
District Attorney Brown said, “The defendant has now been sentenced for the senseless killing of a 25-year-old man outside a nightclub in Queens. As a result of this brazen crime, the children of the victim will never see their father again. And the defendant – a father as well – will be locked away for long term of incarceration. Violence has no place in a civilized society.”
Court documentsfor the case show that, shortly after 4 a.m. on October 5, 2013, an NYPD sergeant was assisting with crowd control outside of the Perfection Nightclub on the Brooklyn-Queens Expressway service road in Woodside, Queens, and spotted Johnson point a firearm at Allah Howell. Johnson fired several shots, hitting the 25-year-old victim in the chest. Bullets pierced Mr. Howell’s lung and heart, killing him.
The defendant immediately fled the scene on foot with the police sergeant pursuing him. He was apprehended hiding in a nearby cemetery. A .38 caliber revolver – with a mixture of the defendant’s DNA on it – was recovered behind a building the defendant passed on his way to the cemetery.
