Queens Borough President Melinda Katz’s Office partnered with the City Department of Parks and Recreation, the City Parks Foundation, Scholars’ Academy, the Rockaway Beach Civic Association, Community Board 14 and TD Bank in cleaning and sprucing up Rockaway Beach and Boardwalk on Sunday.
Katz and volunteers from her Office and the community joined dozens of students, parents, and teachers from Scholars’ Academy of Rockaway Park in picking up trash along the beach and boardwalk from Beach 90th Street to Beach 105th Street.
Community groups and schools interested in partnering with the Borough President’s Office in organizing similar parks cleanups, which can provide students with service credits, should contact the Borough President’s Youth Program Coordinator, Joseph Nocerino, at (718) 286-2668.
