Howard Beach Man in Critical Condition after Being Struck by Car on Cross Bay Boulevard

Police officials took to Twitter to ask motorists to avoid the accident area on Sunday afternoon.

An elderly Howard Beach man on Wednesday remained in critical condition at a borough hospital, three days after he was struck by an SUV as he attempted to traverse Cross Bay Boulevard at 160th Avenue, according to the City Police Department.
According to police reports, the unidentified 89-year-old victim was walking across the busy thoroughfare around 12:45 p.m. when a 2002 Honda Pilot, driven by a 39-year-old man, turned left from 160th Avenue onto Cross Bay Boulevard and struck him.
The victim suffered severe head trauma and was rushed to Jamaica Hospital Medical Center. The driver remained at the scene. The NYPD is investigating the incident. No charges have been filed.
