Cops Search for Violent South Ozone Park Chain Snatcher

Investigators with the 106th Precinct Detective Squad on Monday reached out to the public for help in identifying a man wanted in connection with a violent, broad-daylight robbery that occurred earlier this month in South Ozone Park.
According to police reports, on Thursday, Oct. 12, around 10:30 a.m., the suspect approached a 53-year-old man on Rockaway Boulevard near 106th Street, ripped the chain off his neck, and punched the victim in the face when he tried to take back the jewelry. The suspect then fled on foot eastbound down the boulevard. The victim was treated at the scene for minor injuries, cops said.
The suspect is described as a black man with a goatee; last seen wearing a light-colored hooded sweater and jeans.
