Administration Releases Fiscal Year 2018 Mayor’s Management Report

The de Blasio administration on Monday released the Mayor’s Management Report for Fiscal Year 2018, a comprehensive analysis of 45 City agencies’ performance from July 1, 2017 to June 30, 2018.
The MMR is mandated by Section 12 of the New York City Charter.
According to the administration, highlights of this year’s report include:
Major felony crime decreased 3.2 percent, according to the Police Department; robbery decreased 8 percent; felonious assault decreased 2.5 percent; burglary decreased 4.8 percent; grand larceny decreased 1.6 percent; grand larceny auto decreased 5.6 percent; and end-to-end average response time to critical crimes in progress decreased by 5 seconds.
“Based on FBI total index crime statistics for cities reporting the most recent data for the first six months of Calendar 2017, New York City remains the safest large city with the lowest rate of crime per capita among the 10 largest U.S. cities,” the NYPD wrote as part of its report.
According to the Department of Education, four-year high school graduation rate increased to 74.3 percent from 73 percent; dropout rate decreased to 7.8 percent from 8.5 percent; postsecondary enrollment increased to 56.7 percent from 54.7 percent; and class sizes decreased for Kindergarten, grades 1 – 4, and grade 6.
According to the Department of Transportation, bicyclist/pedestrian fatalities decreased 13.5 percent; Citi Bike annual membership increased 11.8 percent; Citi Bike trips increased 14.7 percent; Select Bus Service annual ridership increased 13.2 percent; total Select Bus Service route miles increased 27.1 percent; and bridge projects (structural work) “substantially completed on schedule” remains at 100 percent.
According to the Department of Homeless Services, families with children in shelters per day decreased to 12,619 from 12,818 per day; exits from shelter to permanent, stable housing grew 5 percent across all shelter sub-populations through a variety of City, State and federally-funded rental assistance programs, with a notable 6.8-percent increase for single adults; HOME-STAT outreach teams increased placements of unsheltered New Yorkers into permanent housing, transitional programs, and other stabilization settings by 32.8 percent.

The MMR is a key tool for measuring and tracking the City’s performance,” said Emily Newman, Acting Director of the Mayor’s Office of Operations. “I thank the staff at Operations who work diligently year-round to make good on this commitment.”
