Queens Borough President Melinda Katz (second from l.) recently presented a Citation of Honor to Esteban Garcia of Woodhaven, who won the 12-years-old and under title in the Major League Baseball Junior Home Run Derby held during this July’s MLB All-Star festivities in Washington, D.C.
The MLB Junior Home Run Derby is an annual national competition for kids in which the top local home run hitters advance to the national finals. More than 40,000 children from across the country entered this year’s contest. Esteban was the only left-handed hitter featured.
