Sol Reischer was recently elected to the position of Chairman of the Board of GallopNYC, effective Oct. 28, according to GallopNYC officials.

Prior to accepting the position of chairman, Reischer served for two years as GallopNYC’s vice chairman. He joined the board in 2014, and according to officials, Reischer was instrumental in GallopNYC’s expansion and the success of Forest Hills and Sunrise Stables. He is a retired option specialist on the American Stock Exchange. Reischer also served as chairman of the Specialist Association from 1995–2002.

The parent of a daughter with cerebral palsy who began therapeutic horseback riding at 3 1/2 years old, Reischer has a father’s understanding of the benefits of therapeutic horsemanship.

“GallopNYC uses therapeutic horsemanship to help riders with disabilities walk, talk and learn, inspiring them to live their lives fully, independently and as productively as possible. I know this firsthand, as my daughter Lauren participated in GallopNYC’s program at an early age and she now is riding competitively with the Brown University Equestrian Team. The experience changed our lives,” Reischer said. “I am thrilled to have been elected to the position of Chairman of the Board for GallopNYC. I look forward to serving our New York City community.”
