Cops Hunt South Richmond Hill Firebug

Police have reached out to the public for help in identifying a woman who earlier this month set fire to religious flags outside a South Richmond Hill Hindu temple.

No one was injured in the March 5 incident in which the woman casually strolled up to the Shree Tulsi Mandir on 111th Street around 7:40 p.m., calmly retrieved what appeared to be a lighter from her pocket, and ignited a flag on display in front of the temple.

Anyone with information is asked to call the NYPD’s Crime Stoppers Hotline at (800) 577-TIPS (8477) or for Spanish, (888) 57-PISTA (74782). The public can also submit info by logging onto; via direct message on Twitter using the handle @NYPDTips; or by texting tips to 274637 (CRIMES) then enter TIP577. All correspondences are strictly confidential.
