Cops Still Probing Belt Pkwy. Crash

Two crash victims were rushed to Jamaica Hospital Medical Center with severe head trauma.

Cops assigned to the City Police Department Highway Collision Investigation Squad are still looking into Monday’s multiple-vehicle accident on the Belt Parkway that left at least two people in critical condition.

According to the NYPD, on Monday at approximately 1:25 a.m. police responded to a 911 call of a vehicle collision on the westbound Belt Parkway at Cohancy Street. A preliminary investigation determined that a 2013 BMW 328 and a 2018 Honda Accord were traveling westbound on the Belt Parkway in the left lane when the Honda struck the rear of the BMW. The Honda then veered to the right, coming to a rest on the right shoulder of the parkway. As a result of the collision, the Honda erupted into flames. The BMW came to a rest across the left lane. A 2017 Infiniti Q50 also travelling westbound on the parkway struck the front of the BMW and the rear of a 2007 Subaru Forester that was travelling westbound in the middle lane. The Infiniti driver fled the location on foot and is being sought.

The driver of the Honda, a 28-year-old woman, was rushed by EMS to Brookdale Hospital Medical Center in stable condition. A 28-year-old passenger was rushed to Jamaica Hospital Medical Center in stable condition.

The operator of the BMW, a 24-year-old man, and a 25-year-old male passenger were both transported to JHMC with severe head trauma, where they are both listed in critical condition.

The operator of the Subaru, a 55-year-old man, was transported to Brookdale in stable condition.
