A treacherous trio earlier this month tossed ice at a Metropolitan Transportation Authority train conductor near the Woodhaven Boulevard station, leaving her with minor injuries, according to police and published reports.
“This was not an innocent prank. Such reckless behavior could have resulted in serious injuries,” State Sen. Joe Addabbo, Jr. (D-Woodhaven) said. “This incident has raised serious concerns about the safety of our public transportation workers and the potential consequences of such thoughtless actions. It is imperative that we denounce these acts of misconduct and work towards ensuring the safety and security of our public servants who serve our communities.”
An MTA security report noted that 110 transit workers were assaulted in the first eight months of 2023. That’s a 39-percent increase over the same period last year.
The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
