Pedestrian Killed by Two Autos in Accident on Woodhaven Boulevard

Just hours after the ball slid down the pole in Times Square, signifying the start of 2024, a pedestrian was struck by two vehicles in Woodhaven and later succumbed to his injuries, police said.

On Monday, Jan. 1,  at approximately 6:50 a.m., cops responded to a car crash in the vicinity of 91st Avenue and Woodhaven Boulevard. Further investigation by the NYPD Collision Investigation Squad determined that a man, approximately 60 to 65 years of age, was crossing the busy thoroughfare east to west mid-block, tripped on the center median and fell into its southbound lanes, where he was struck by a 2002 Toyota (Vehicle # 1) traveling southbound on the boulevard in the left lane operated by a 78-year-old man. The pedestrian was thrown into the northbound lanes of the boulevard where he was subsequently struck by a 2008 Jeep (Vehicle # 2) traveling northbound in the left lane operated by a 51-year-old man.

EMS rushed the pedestrian to Jamaica Hospital Medical Center where he was pronounced dead. The operators and vehicles remained on scene. There are no arrests, and the investigation remains ongoing by the CIS.

As of Wednesday afternoon, there is no identification of the victim.
