City Councilwoman Joann Ariola (R-Ozone Park) on Monday was sworn in to her second term representing the residents and businesses of Council District 32.
Ariola succeeded long-time Councilman Eric Ulrich after trouncing Democrat Felicia Singh in November 2021.
City officials and South Queens communities were ebullient in their praise for the work Ariola has done over the past 26 months.
“Congratulations to Councilwoman Ariola on her new term,” City Fire Commissioner Laura Kavanagh said. “A staunch ally of the FDNY and the city, as chairwoman of the Fire and Emergency Management Committee, Ariola has been a great listener and collaborator for the FDNY. It was a pleasure to attend her inauguration ceremony.”
Woodhaven’s PS 60 Assistant Principal Jackie Harrison said, “Thank you Councilwoman Ariola for putting your heart in all you do for our schools! We hope you enjoyed every minute of your beautiful inauguration today. Our Student Government Representative, Julio, was so proud to participate!”
“It was with great honor to attend Councilwoman Joann Ariola’s surprise inauguration today. Thank you for your unwavering support of the NYPD. We look forward to working with you and your staff to continue to keep the residents in District 32 safe,” said Capt. Berkley VanTull, commanding officer of the 106th Precinct.
