Local Groups Team Up for Food Drive

Glendale Garden Harvested for Support

Greater Ridgewood Youth Council and Assemblyman Mike Miller are holding a two-week long food drive to benefit the Ridgewood Older Adult Center.

The food drive, which runs from July 21 to August 4, will also include assistance from the Boy Scouts Troop 427, the Glendale Kiwanis Club, P.S. 113 and Sacred Heart School. Children from each group have been maintaining the Glendale Kiwanis Garden and will harvest tomatoes, cucumbers and peppers for the drive.

“This food drive will be a good opportunity for us to obtain food for the center which serves so many people in the community,” Miller said. “Furthermore, we will use the opportunity to shed light on the collective work of so many organizations on the garden and finally, it gives the elderly a chance to interact with the children from these organizations.”

Non-perishable food items can be dropped off at the Greater Ridgewood Youth Council at 64-02 Myrtle Avenue in Glendale, P.S. 239 at 17-15 Weirfield Street in Ridgewood and Miller’s district office at 83-91 Woodhaven Boulevard in Woodhaven. For more information, call 718 805 0950.
