The 106th Precinct put a Lindenwood man in handcuffs last week for holding a large amount of drugs inside his 80th Street home, the Police Department said.

Kevin Morel, 25, was arrested and charged with several counts of drug possession around 6:45 a.m. on Aug. 1 after officers executed a search warrant on his 156-36 80th St. home in Lindenwood, the NYPD said.

The Howard Beach-Lindenwood Civic Association posted word of the arrest on its Facebook page last week when the news arrived, commending the work of the precinct and thanking those who helped get the large amount of drugs off the street. The post garnered more than 30 responses.

Morel’s next trial date was set for Aug. 15, court records showed.

Arrest records showed Morel to have also been arrested back on May 21 on similar drug possession charges. He was expected back in court in reference to that arrest on Sept. 16, records showed.

Another hot crime in the Howard Beach and Lindenwood communities over recent weeks remained the consistent rash of car break-ins, which 106th Deputy Inspector Jeffrey Schiff said has been a top priority for officers. Schiff posted news of several arrests over the last several weeks in reference to car break-ins, but one particularly recent video featured two suspects who were still at large.

Video footage showed the two suspects breaking into a white car around 4 a.m. on Aug. 1 near 83rd Street and 165th Avenue. The 106th Precinct Community Council posted the video on its Facebook page and asked anyone with information to contact the 106th Precinct.

“When is this going to stop?” asked Howard Beach resident Jeanine Marcotrigiano, who said she has seen car break-ins continue to plague her southern Queens street for months. “I know, when someone gets hurt.”
