Jamaica Basketball Coach Charged with Possession of Child Porn

A Jamaica basketball coach this week was awaiting arraignment on charges of possessing child pornography after a 15-year-old boy he coached told his parents about his alleged video chats with the man, said Queens District Attorney Richard Brown.

Robert Walker, 42, faces a criminal complaint charging him with use of a child in a sexual performance, first-degree disseminating indecent material to minors, possessing a sexual performance by a child and endangering the welfare of a child.

According to the complaint, on April 22, Walker, who coaches three Amateur Athletic Union teams and regularly conducts basketball workouts with teenage boys, communicated with a 15-year-old boy on a video chat and instant-messaging computer application, instructing him to pose naked. A search warrant executed on Walker’s home computer allegedly found the video of the 15-year-old victim.

Walker also allegedly made statements following his arrest in which he admitted to conducting workouts with teens under the age of 16, during which he would have them remove their clothes while he took pictures and videos of the boys.

If convicted, Walker faces up to 15 years in prison.

Brown urged that any other individuals, who believe they may have also been victimized by the Walker, call the 105th Precinct Detective Squad at (718) 776-9252.
