A John F. Kennedy International Airport cleaner last week was arrested for allegedly swiping thousands of dollars worth of tiny bottles of liquor over a three-year period, according to Queens District Attorney Richard Brown.

Juanette Cullum, 48, of Brooklyn, was arraigned last Friday on charges of third-degree grand larceny and third-degree criminal possession of stolen property. She was ordered released on her own recognizance.

According to the criminal complaint, Cullum works for Air Service Cleaning at the airport and is responsible for maintaining the interior appearance of American Airlines airplanes in Terminal 8. A tip to police regarding the alleged pilfering prompted a visit to Cullum’s home. When confronted, Brown said, Cullum allegedly admitted to stealing the mini bottles and other miscellaneous items over a three-year period. Cops allegedly recovered nearly 1,500 tiny bottles in a closet in her home. The swiped spirits over the three years is valued at approximately $10,000, Brown indicated.

Cullum’s next court date is scheduled for May 21. If convicted, she faces up to seven years behind bars.

Brown said that in addition to “tidying up the aircraft” she was responsible for cleaning, Cullum “allegedly helped herself to the mini bottles of alcohol on board.”
