Two men last week who purported to be police officers on official business felt the cold reality of the real long arm of the law after the commanding officer of the 106th Precinct arrested them.

The two men allegedly claimed to be cops last Wednesday afternoon in Ozone Park, yelling “Move! We’re the police!” as they drove past the unmarked NYPD vehicle which Deputy Inspector Jeff Schiff was driving, according to an NY Daily News report. Schiff chased down the culprits, eventually pulling them over at 107th Avenue and 108th Street.

Asked for badges, the two men could not produce any sort identification indicating their membership in a law enforcement organization. They were arrested for criminal impersonation.

Schiff, a prolific department tweeter with one of the largest followings of all official NYPD accounts, posted, “#Fake #Cops beware! You will b arrested by real #Police when u impersonate them!” Schiff later tweeted. “2 perps arrested 4 Police #Impersonation by the #106Pct CO!”
