Assemblywoman Stacey Pheffer Amato (D-Howard Beach) has been selected to serve on four standing committees, including Racing & Wagering and Veterans Affairs, the freshman representative announced on Thursday.

“I am excited to participate on such influential committees; Speaker [Carl] Heastie recognizes the unique needs of our community which mirrors all of New York State,” Pheffer Amato said. “As a granddaughter of a World War II veteran, it is my honor to serve on the Veterans Affairs Committee and I will work tirelessly to ensure members of our military are taken care of.”

Pheffer Amato added that serving on the Racing & Wagering Committee allows her the opportunity to support “great revenue and job producing enterprises” throughout the state, including Aqueduct Racetrack and Resorts World Casino New York City, which call the 23rd District home.

Pheffer Amato, who owns Elegante Restaurant and Pizzeria on Rockaway Beach Boulevard, has also been assigned to the Assembly Consumer Affairs Committee, noting that she has “firsthand experience with protecting consumer’s rights” and firmly believes “that every New Yorker must be treated fairly by all businesses – regardless of their size.”

Rounding out Pheffer Amato’s assignments is a spot on the Governmental Employees Committee.
