A pedestrian was struck and killed by a yellow taxi on Saturday in a wild accident on the Van Wyck Expressway in Richmond Hill that also saw three motorists taken into police custody, according to the City Police Department and published reports.
The victim was walking on the southbound side of the expressway near the Jamaica Avenue/Hillside Avenue exit around 2:30 a.m. when he was hit by the cab, which set off a chain-reaction that ultimately involved four vehicles. The licenses of the hack and two other drivers were suspended at the time of the incident, so they were placed under arrest at the scene and later charged with aggravated unlicensed driving, according to a New York Daily News report.
