South Queens large Indian population celebrated Holi 2018 on Thursday and Friday in Ozone Park.
Borough Hindus marked the spring festival with a parade and the traditional tossing of “abir” – brightly colored powders – outside the Shri Trimurti Bhavan center on 97th Avenue.
The Festival of Colors or the Festival of Love is considered as one of the most revered and celebrated jubilees of India, according to the Society for the Confluence of Festivals in India. The ritual starts the night before (Thursday) with the lighting a bonfire, symbolizing the triumph of good over evil; on the day of Holi (Friday) people play with colors with their friends and families.
