The Richmond Hill Historical Society on Sunday hosted its Centennial Commemoration of the End of World War I at the Buddy Monument in Forest Park.
The free event featured a Color Guard from the John Adams High School Reserve Officers’ Training Corps; wreath dedication; reading of the names of the 71 men from Richmond Hill and neighboring communities who lost their lives during the Great War; and “Taps.” The commemoration then proceeded indoors to the auditorium at the Church of the Holy Child Jesus on 86th Avenue for exhibits and presentations, including WWI photos and stories from Richmond Hill and Woodhaven, and a video production crafted by the Woodhaven Cultural & Historical Society.
