The Howard Beach branch of TD Bank was robbed by a note passing bandit on Tuesday afternoon. Authorities say the suspect was a male black who gave the teller a note demanding money and claiming that he had a bomb. The robber was given an undisclosed amount of money before escaping the bank.
TD Bank spokesperson Judi Rusk confirmed the robbery and offered the following statement: “First of all, we’re glad everybody is safe. The safety of our customers and our employees is of the utmost importance to us. We are cooperating with the local officials in the ongoing investigation.”
Rusk said that any further comment could interfere with the police investigation and therefore the bank would refrain from making any further statements at this time.
