Across Queens on Tuesday night, residents came out in droves to meet with police from their local precincts as part of the National Night Out Against Crime. The National Night Out is an annual show of support for police departments across the U.S. It’s designed to strengthen neighborhoods’ anti-crime, anti-drug spirit and build bridges between communities and their local police.
Last year, more than 15,000 neighborhoods and 37 million people in 50 states took part in the night.
In the 112th, 106th, 104th and 102nd precincts in Queens, residents turned out to show their support.
In neighborhoods spanning from Ridgewood to Howard Beach and throughout Queens, neighbors got the chance to grab a hot dog, play games or dance the night away with officers patrolling their local communities.
