Cops Still Investigating Christmas Hit and Run

Cops this week were still investigating a Christmas Day hit-and-run accident in Woodhaven that pinned a woman in her car until she was extricated and removed to an area hospital, according to an NYPD spokeswoman.

The 28-year-old victim was driving her 2012 Honda Civic eastbound on Jamaica Avenue around 2 a.m. last Thursday when the assailant, operating a white 2005 Acura TL, “disregarded a steady red light,” turned from Woodhaven Boulevard onto westbound Jamaica Avenue and collided with the Civic, the spokeswoman said. The driver of the Acura then fled the scene in the vehicle, while the victim was taken to Jamaica Hospital Medical Center with minor injuries. No arrests have been made.

As of Sunday, according to a Daily News report, there were 250 total traffic fatalities in the city this year, down more than 13 percent from 2013.
