Dozens of former military service members and reputable employers last Thursday met at Resorts World Casino in South Ozone Park at the second annual Veterans Job Fair.

Sponsored by City Councilman Eric Ulrich (R-Ozone Park), the fair attracted 85 transitioning veterans and 60 large employers, who converged on the 3rd Floor Central Park Event Space, which was donated from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. by the casino.

Resorts World Casino Director of Public Relations and Community Development Michelle Stoddart said that RW was happy to work on the project with Ulrich “to assist the men and women in uniform who have selflessly served on our behalf.”

Representatives from the public and private sectors and a diverse array of industries, including the city Police and Fire departments, Lockheed Martin, Whole Foods, JetBlue, Pfizer, Madison Square Garden, General Electric Aviation, the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, the Transportation Security Administration, and programs such as Helmets to Hardhats, were on hand to help connect veterans to employment opportunities.

“This job fair afforded veterans the opportunity to speak with employers from various industries including manufacturing, technology, energy and many others,” said Ulrich, chairman of the Council Veterans Committee. “I’d like to thank Resorts World Casino for donating the space and the 60 participating employers who joined us and made this event possible.”
