A Brooklyn man on Tuesday died in a shootout with cops in East New York, hours after he gunned down his ex-girlfriend in the parking lot of Resorts World Casino in South Ozone Park, according to police and published reports.

Patricia Mohammed, 55, was speaking to a man outside the casino around 2 a.m. when ex-boyfriend Dalton Branch, 51, a former employee of the shuttle bus company that escorts visitors to and from Resorts World, pulled up in his car and confronted them. Branch, police said, then opened fire on the man but did not strike him, while Mohammed, who a source told The Forum has no affiliation with the casino or any of its third-party operators, attempted to take cover in her car. Branch shot her to death.

The source also indicated that the man to whom Mohammed was speaking at the time of the incident works for the bus company that used to employ Branch.

“Resorts World is heartbroken by the tragedy that occurred earlier this morning in the casino’s parking lot,” said a casino spokesman. “Our thoughts and prayers go out to the victim’s family. We are fully cooperating with the NYPD in the investigation into this incident.”

After sending taunting texts and phone calls to Mohammed’s family and the surviving victim, Branch was killed around 6 a.m. in a shootout he initiated with three plainclothes cops in Brooklyn, authorities said.
