CB 10 Decries ‘Problematic’ Gemini Fields

The Community Board 10 Parks and Recreation Committee last week brought the ongoing issues of Gemini Fields, in Howard Beach, to the attention of the full board.

Committee Chairman Frank Dardani characterized the ball field area as “very problematic,” with groups of people parking cars on the grass, blasting music at all hours, and leaving trash in their wake.

“The 106th [Precinct officers] are repeatedly going over there,” noted Dardani, who also is the president of the Precinct Community Council.

A city Parks Department spokeswoman told The Forum on Wednesday that the agency is “aware of community concerns about conditions at Gemini Field, particularly on the weekends. Parks Enforcement Patrol officers will be inspecting to ensure the leagues are in compliance with their permits and park rules.”
