The Queens Parent Advisory Board, chaired by Borough President Melinda Katz, will meet on Thursday, Feb. 25, to discuss “The College Admissions Process and How to Fund Your Child’s College Education.”

“Applying for colleges can be complicated for both students and parents, and higher education has become more and more expensive so we need to make sure parents and students have the information they need to make appropriate decisions about their futures,” Katz said.  “Our next Parent Advisory Board meeting will help clarify the college admissions process for parents, and offer guidance on how their kids can apply for grants, scholarships and other forms of financial aid that can help cover the cost of attending college.”

The Feb. 25 meeting will feature presentations by officials from the State University of New York and the City University of New York about the admissions process and their scholarship, grants and financial aid programs. In addition, in attendance will be representatives from the Foundation Center about available online grants and the New York State Higher Education Services Corporation about loan debt relief.

The free and public meeting will be held from 6-7:30 p.m. and will take place at Borough Hall, 120-55 Queens Blvd., Kew Gardens.
