Mayor Bill de Blasio on Thursday set March 24 as the date for the Queens Borough President special election.
“I encourage all eligible Queens residents to vote in the upcoming special election, and I thank outgoing Borough President Melinda Katz for her leadership and increasing The World’s Borough’s diversity and dynamism, and wish her all the best in her new role,” Hizzoner added.
On Monday Katz was sworn in as Queens District Attorney.
Here is the list of candidates vying to succeed her at Borough Hall:
City Councilmen Donovan Richards (D-Laurelton), Jimmy Van Bramer (D-Sunnyside), and Costa Constantinides (D-Astoria); former Councilwoman Elizabeth Crowley; former Queens Assistant District Attorney James Quinn; Danniel Sun Maio; and retired NYPD Sgt. Anthony Miranda.
