A family that has cut hundreds of thousands of coupons to help soldiers serving overseas will be honored by the Richmond Hill South Civic Association at the group’s May 22 meeting.
The Cipriano family has cut more than $250,000 worth of coupons, which go to support military members and their families. Because of their dedication to the project, the civic will honor them at the group’s Installation of Officers meeting on May 22 at 7:30 p.m.
The meeting will be held at the Knights of Columbus Hall at 135-45 Lefferts Blvd. in South Ozone Park.
Since 2006, the civic group has been cutting coupons and sending them overseas to soldiers and their families. The military members receiving the coupons have been stationed in such places as Germany, Japan, Italy, Bavaria, and Belgium. The solders are from the U.S. Air Force, Army, and Navy.
The civic is currently working towards sending $2 million in coupons overseas.
